The first grill of the season!

Okay, this post is seriously—SERIOUSLY—late, but here it is anyway! After acquiring a grill for my back porch, I was able to make a perfect little meal to welcome in the summer. I felt really proud of myself too because it was surprisingly balanced and, well, good! Real good…

This was the salad I created with it, which is the perfect grillin’ sidekick: a balsamic couscous salad with sauteed onions. Just assemble some cooked couscous with diced vegetables (I used a bell pepper and tomatoes) with some sauteed onions you can quickly make with some butter and a low and slow flame. Mix it with some mixed greens (baby spinach and arugula) and a balsamic vinaigrette, and you’ve got a pretty awesome salad.

Now the good stuff: the grillings! I grilled some thin cuts of beef with just salt and pepper over a hot charcoal flame. Also did some grilled asparagus too. The feature though was the bleu cheese sauce I made I think! And it’s the quickest and easiest sauce you’ll ever make: just slowly boil some cream, your cheese, and spices of your choice (I used rosemary and a bay leaf) and you’ve got yourself a sauce, boss!

So there it is—oh, you’re probably wondering about that random stack of hotdogs, yeah? Well, the fire was still really hot, and we were only making food for two, so… Why not get the rest the week’s lunch for myself cooked and ready to go? So, there. The grill is slowly becoming my new best friend during the summer, and I’m excited to try more new and crazy things!
