Being back in college means a lot more cooking on my part. And by cooking, I mean “what can I put together in a bowl and call dinner?” I’d like to think that this is my specialty because I can work with almost anything and find a way to make it a good meal. And I like to think I can make something seemingly boring into something with a little more class. What do you think?
When I’m feeling fancy, I usually make some Shrimp Linguini—simple enough. You can basically make your pasta, and then slowly saute garlic and red pepper flakes with some shrimp, and you have an easy pasta dish.
And when I feel extremely lazy, I make my Kid’s Meal Mac & Cheese—I make mac & cheese from the box mixed with some frozen veggies (green beans and corn), and then top it with some chicken nuggets. I made a scrappy breakfast pita one morning where I literally chopped down whatever I had in my freezer, cooked it, and put it in a pita. I sauteed sausage, mushrooms, garlic and onions in lots of butter and put it inside a heated pita.

Isn’t being a starving actor awesome?

Here’s the ultimate college meal for all of you: dinosaur-shaped nuggets, corn, and white rice. I took them to rehearsal for me and for Adam, and yes—we were the object of jealousy from the rest of the cast.

That box of nuggets seriously lasted me an entire week of food. Thank you!

My ultimate quick-eat pig-out choice. It’s also the best to snack on when you’re writing a paper on the pressures of cultural responsibilities and competition in a novel.

Salmon quesadillas! It’s always fun to cook up some lunch when you can. I used some corn tortillas instead of flour—though not as crispy, it definitely tastes a whole lot better.

Oscar Mayer ”lunchable” and a V8 Fusion. A college student’s meal.
